Omega Seamaster DeVille 14K

Omega Seamaster DeVille 14K

During World War II, Omega shifted their efforts towards producing simple and reliable timepieces at large scale for various militaries. After the war, Omega resumed their production of consumer pieces with a new approach- the new post-war Omegas were notable for their clean, legible dials and stalwart movements, making them a popular choice for a sharp-looking everyday watch.

Of particular note in the post-war years was the introduction of the iconic Seamaster line in 1948, so named for its then-innovative waterproofing. Over time, the Seamaster name was applied to a variety of pieces with waterproof cases, from simple, time-only pieces to full-fledged dive watches.

While vintage Omegas, and Seamasters in particular, have gained in popularity thanks to their affordable prices and classic looks, it has also made finding worthwhile examples a bit more difficult.

This mid 1960's example is a testament to what makes these Seamasters a popular pick for the new and experienced collector alike. Featuring a handsome 34mm case in 14k gold, this example (a Reference KM6610 produced for the American market) is well proportioned on the wrist. The dial is clean and uncluttered, and has taken on a beautiful, even patina over the years.

The icing on the cake is the inscription on the case back, a reminder of life's preciousness: "Time is the fuel of life. Waste little. Love Kego."

If that isn't words to live by, we don't know what are.
