Silvana Diver

Silvana Diver

Among the vast world of vintage timepieces, there is no doubt that vintage dive watches hold a special place in the hearts of many collectors, ourselves included. With their simple and clean designs and their reliable and robust movements, the tool watches of the 1960s and 1970s were built to accompany the adventurer across the globe and to keep time at its great heights as well as its dark depths.

Given the popularity of the style (even to this day), there are hundreds of interesting variants from dozens of companies, all with a story to tell and a unique take on a tried and true theme. Even when relegated to desk duty, there's just something so right about a vintage dive watch on your wrist.

If you've never heard of Silvana before, we wouldn't blame you. Even though the brand dates back to the late 1800's and they spent decades turning out simple, reliable watches with high-grade cases and movements, Silvana disappeared in the 1980's, falling victim to the quartz crisis like so many other brands.

This piece features all of the hallmarks of a proper tool watch- a large, screw down crown, sturdy stainless steel case, and one of our favorite touches- drilled lugs that make strap changes a breeze. The black dial and sword hands have developed a tremendous patina over time and the rotating steel bezel features countdown markers (as opposed to the ubiquitous elapsed time markers). Inside beats a high-grade 25 jewel automatic movement by ETA.

Even with all of this, the obscurity of the Silvana name and history makes most un-illuminated enthusiasts breeze right past it.

But you know better. That's why you're here.

Stainless steel case is approximately 37.5mm in diameter (excluding the crown). ETA 2472 automatic movement. Circa 1960's.

Overall condition: Case is in excellent over all, showing light signs of wear consistent with age and use. Black dial is in equally excellent condition with even patination as are the sword-style hands. Bidirectional friction bezel with countdown scale, unsigned screw-down crown and steel screw down case back.

Includes two 20mm nylon straps by Crown & Buckle.
