Vulcain Cushion Case Diver

Vulcain is best known for the Cricket, and we understand why that’s the case. At a time when adding features to a watch was considered a marvel of engineering, it was the world’s first wristwatch with a mechanical alarm, and it could be seen on the wrist of a number of US Presidents, including Truman, Eisenhower, and Nixon, and accompanied Italian explorers to the summit of K2, the world's second highest peak.

While the Cricket looms large in Vuclcain's legacy, the brand dates as far back as the mid 1800's, when the Ditisheim brothers set up shop in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The Cricket was far from a one-off for Vulcain- they had been experimenting with complications from the very beginning, winning awards at several World's Fairs.

After the release of the Cricket, however, Vulcain was really on the map and they grew into a go-to brand for affordable watches with quality components- just the type of brand we love here at 10:25 Vintage.

This simple manual wind dive watch is a great example of how Vulcain expanded their product line without compromising their quality and style. With a nicely sized 37mm cushion case in superb condition, this piece feels right at home on the modern wrist. The blue dial is both legible and interesting owing to its outer chapter ring and beautifully patinated hour markers. A blue rotating divers bezel completes the look.

Everyone should have a watch that they can enjoy any day of the week, and whether desk diving at the office or weekend adventuring, this 1970s diver has it all.
